WORD: Un-coventional stripes, mixed and matched in any way shape or form are my latest interiors crush. I simply cannot get enough of them!

I’ve never actually had a stripey crush before… have you?? If not, perhaps these lovely images will motivate you to do so?

Tell me, this bedroom is not the cosiest thing you’ve seen all day? It is the perfect mix of patterns and textures mixed and matched together in one heap… “I sigh”, I do love an unmade bed especially on a Sunday morning.

 Does this image make you want to paint your door in crazy stripes?…. if so, than you simply must share your pictures with us. “Colour Blocking” in stripes and geo shapes is so fantastic and I do think it’s a trend that could really blossom in 2015. I feel like it’s expanding on the Geometric trends from 2013/14 but in a more dramatic way.

What I most like about patterns mixed and matched together is the following;

  • they enhance variations between textures
  • they can magnify shapes; and we know from my post on Finding Balance and Harmony Through Simple Decor Shapes that this too is good thing!
  • they distract the eye from those less than perfect areas and lastly
  • they are striking and can really make a room sing!

This arm chair and ottoman by Gaetano Pesce for B&B Italia is such a wonderful example of how stripes can enhance curves and shapes. Image via Elle Decor Magazine.

P.S I apologise if my Mail Chimp emails are still looking very un-formatted, I am working to correct it! Rx
