[gn_heading style=”1″]A spirited Christmas [/gn_heading]
Last year, I wrote a post on Ten Christmas ideas for the bedroom. It’s one of my top five “popular posts”, not because it’s out of the park amazing, more so because Christmas – ideas are huge, any time of year!
This year, I’ve decided to throw the Christmas rule book out the window. Instead, I’m sharing Three ways to have a fun, spirited Christmas which seems to be where my priorities lie this year. Do let me know if you can think of any more to add and I shall include them;
1. Let your children put up the Xmas tree from start to finish.
This is year, our six year old son “August” put up our entire Christmas tree from start to finish all by himself. Insert wonky tree here :-). I totally surprised myself when I allowed him to do it all on his own and you have my word that I’ve not changed a thing. Our tree looks beautifully wonky in the best kind of way! In previous years gone by…. I may have changed a thing or two after the kids had gone to bed. Funnily, I have decided that our Christmas tree is much better this way, his way and it definitely gives me a warm fuzzy feeling every-time I glance its way! So proud of his persistence…. FYI- He actually wanted me to let you all know that he “persisted”!
2. Let go of perfection.
I definitely feel that perfection has its time and place. Having said that, I wonder if we were less attached to the idea of “The Perfect Christmas” would we enjoy it more? This year, I am going to try to let go of ideal’s and will simply let, what will be, be.
3. Play a game
Lastly listen to some merry carols and play an old fashion game with the family. Maybe you could grab yourself a glass of bubbles and have a quick game of naughty or nice? Decide who is going to be “naughty” and who will be “nice”. Play it like a game of naughts and crosses, see who wins.
I do hope these simple ideas make your Xmas more joyous and fun!1
