Some of you may remember a segment from my previous blog Hip Brown Things called #makedoandstyle? Just to quickly remind you – Insta peeps would tag their décor pictures as #makedoandstyle on instagram if it involved use of one of the following themes:
- handmade or
- derived from nature.
The meaning of #makedoandstyle is a rather broad one but it essentially means styling your home with the recourses you have at hand. As some of you would already know – I am a huge advocate of this.
It has been a while since I did a Make do and style post however Jamie Walsh who is one half of groovy duo Urban Style Hunters – posted this snap on instagram and I simply had to share it with you. It’s a snap of her very own kitchen – firstly I like how loved and home-y this kitchen space is. Secondly instead of buying a new Kitchen Island – Jamie and her hubby re-designed and made a island bench from a Country-style kitchen table. It was also a sentimental piece as it was originally inherited from grandparents. I love how it turned out, don’t you?? The blend is seamless and I think its industrial – country style at its best!
Urban Style Hunters are located in Sydney and they are all over décor and homes not costing a fortune! They specialise in selling handpicked vintage finds, roadside finds, art and home-wares. Often these finds are beautifully repurposed or upcycled by the pair. Jamie and Gemma have regular pop – up stores; you can follow their blog here to keep in touch with their up-coming events. I use the word events because I do believe you can grab yourself a sausage sanga, eat cake and buy home-wares all at the same time.
